The main difference between amoxicillin capsules and amoxicillin dispersible tablets is that the dosage forms are different, one is a capsule and the other is a dispersible tablet. Dispersible tablets have a longer half-life than capsules, so amoxicillin dispersible tablets require less dosing than amoxicillin capsules in clinical practice. Amoxicillin belongs to the penicillin class of antibiotics and is almost entirely excreted in its original form in the urine after oral absorption. These drugs are effective for mild or preventive infections and less effective for severe or acute infections. These drugs are effective against most gram-positive cocci and gram-positive bacilli, weak against most gram-negative bacilli, and ineffective against fungal, protozoal, rickettsial, and viral infections, and the main adverse reactions are allergic reactions.
