It is possible that ringworm is a superficial fungal infection that occurs on the skin between the palms, plantars and fingers and toes. The main causative fungi are Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton spp. and Trichophyton flocculare. If the patient presents with enlarged palm bumps, itching, slight redness and swelling, and if the usual antiseptic medications are ineffective, ringworm may be tentatively considered, but the diagnosis needs to be confirmed based on ancillary findings and pathological examination.
