Positive Hepatitis B Virus Core and Surface Antibodies indicate that the patient has recovered from infection with the Hepatitis B Virus and has gained immunity against the Hepatitis B Virus. Hepatitis B Virus Core and Surface Antibodies are both tests in the Hepatitis B panel. They are serologic markers of hepatitis B virus infection. Positive Hepatitis B Virus Surface Antigen marks Hepatitis B Virus infection and is the earliest sign of infection with the Hepatitis B Virus. Positive hepatitis B virus surface antibody is a good phenomenon, indicating that there are protective antibodies in the body, which is seen after injection of hepatitis B vaccine or in the recovery period of hepatitis B, suggesting that the body has immunity against hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B virus E antigen is positive, which often indicates that the replication of hepatitis B virus is active and highly infectious. Hepatitis B virus E antibody is positive, which usually indicates that the hepatitis B virus has no obvious active replication and is less infectious. Positive core antibody to hepatitis B virus should be analyzed in combination with other indicators, and there are two different situations. If it is positive together with surface antibody, it means that immunity against hepatitis B virus has been acquired after infection. However, if it is positive together with surface antigen, it indicates hepatitis B virus infection. In conclusion, positive hepatitis B core antibody and surface antibody means that after infection with hepatitis B virus, one has gained immunity against hepatitis B virus.
