How long is the normal life expectancy of IgA nephropathy

IgA nephropathy is the most common type of glomerular disease, and the life expectancy of patients is related to the severity of their disease and cannot be generalized. Patients with IgA nephropathy can usually survive with the disease for a long time, and most patients have only minor urine test abnormalities for life. If patients have more proteinuria, renal insufficiency or hypertension, especially severe hypertension that is difficult to control, it often indicates a more severe disease, and patients have a relatively poor prognosis, with a risk of progression to end-stage renal disease of more than 50% within 10 years. once IgA nephropathy is diagnosed, patients should immediately take active and effective preventive measures. If hematuria symptoms are predominant, they should actively receive TCM evidence-based treatment or ARB medication to slow down the progression of renal impairment in order to avoid the occurrence of renal failure. The diet of patients with IgA nephropathy should be based on low salt, low fat and high quality protein to prevent the rapid development of renal failure and make the condition more difficult to control.
