Are adnexal cysts serious?

Most of the cysts in the adnexal region are not serious, which means that most of them are physiological in nature. Especially in women of childbearing age, if cysts in the adnexal region appear, they can be observed and usually disappear after 2 months. If the cysts do not disappear after 2 months but increase in size, they may be ovarian tumors and require surgery. Because ovarian cysts may become twisted or malignant after a long period of time, it is important to undergo surgery as soon as possible. If there is sudden pain in the lower abdomen and a cyst is seen on ultrasound, it is more serious and must be treated by surgery as soon as possible.
