What does it mean to have fat deposits in the vertebral body

Intravertebral fat accumulation means that parts of the structures within the vertebral body are filled or replaced by fatty tissue, because these areas may have been subject to trauma, inflammation or other pathology that can lead to an inflammatory response that stimulates the proliferation of fatty tissue, a condition that can cause parts of what were originally bone trabeculae to be replaced by fatty tissue. Generally speaking, if the local inflammatory reaction has disappeared, the local defect should be filled by a normal trabecular structure. If it is filled by fat accumulation, it often implies that the inflammation has subsided and that the fracture is not healing very well. However, this condition also usually does not cause significant clinical symptoms and can only be seen on MRI and does not require further disposition.
