The maximum number of days to take bismuth potassium citrate

The maximum cycle of bismuth citrate potassium is not recommended to be taken for more than 7 days. This is because prolonged use of bismuth potassium citrate increases the risk of adverse drug reactions in patients. Bismuth potassium citrate is a bismuth salt agent that is mainly used to relieve adverse symptoms such as stomach pain, acid reflux and heartburn caused by conditions such as chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. This drug can play a role in protecting mucosal tissues in acidic environment such as stomach and duodenum, thus reducing the stimulating effect of gastric juice on damaged tissues and accelerating the self-repair of ulcer sites. In addition, the combination of this drug with antibacterial agents such as metronidazole and clarithromycin can also enhance the effect of H. pylori killing and reduce the recurrence rate of patients. However, the drug is not recommended to be taken continuously for more than 7 days, otherwise it may easily cause intestinal dysfunction and even damage to liver, kidney and other organ tissues. Do not drink alcohol or take food or medication containing propylene glycol when taking bismuth potassium citrate, as this may increase the risk of adverse reactions in those who take it, such as headache, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.
