Non-atrophic gastritis, also known as superficial gastritis, is a type of chronic gastritis, a chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by a variety of etiologies. Common causes include smoking, alcohol consumption, drugs, H. pylori infection, and psychological factors. The lesions are mild and can heal on their own. Most patients with non-atrophic gastritis can heal on their own by eliminating the causes. For example, quit smoking and drinking, reduce salt intake; correct bad eating habits and avoid irritating diets; eat a soft and easily digestible diet, avoid too rough, too strong and too cold, too hot diet. Avoid eating salted, smoked and unfresh foods; stop taking certain drugs that stimulate the gastric mucosa, especially aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; adjust emotions and avoid long-term tension, anxiety or depression. If the patient’s symptoms are severe, some drugs can be selected for treatment according to the patient’s condition after examination, such as gastric mucosal protective agents, acid suppressants, gastrointestinal motility drugs, and anti-H. pylori treatment. Therefore, non-atrophic gastritis with light lesions does not require treatment and can heal itself. Most patients can eliminate the causes of non-atrophic gastritis by quitting smoking and alcohol, avoiding irritating foods, stopping irritating drugs, and adjusting their emotions, and the symptoms of non-atrophic gastritis can also disappear and the lesions can be restored. Some patients with more severe symptoms should be treated actively and are usually curable.
