The treatments for erythropoietin-induced pure erythropoietic aplastic anemia include immediate discontinuation of erythropoietin, transfusion supportive therapy and immunosuppressive therapy. 1. The cause of erythropoietin-induced erythropoietic aplastic anemia is due to the fact that erythropoietin induces the body to produce antibodies, which can act on endogenous and exogenous erythropoietin, thus leading to the impairment of erythropoiesis, so erythropoietin has to be discontinued in the first place. 2. Transfusion supportive therapy is to improve the clinical symptoms caused by anemia, such as transfusion of suspended red blood cells. 3. The preferred immunosuppressive regimen is cyclosporine, followed by prednisone in combination with oral cyclophosphamide, which should be continued until the antibodies become negative. Patients using erythropoietin for renal anemia may be treated with renal transplantation if available. The use of specific drugs should be carried out under the guidance of physicians.
