Long-term chronic cough is usually caused by respiratory diseases, but may also be caused by other diseases, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, post-nasal drip syndrome, etc., need to be analyzed specifically.
1. Respiratory diseases: such as chronic bronchitis is mostly long-term, recurrent, gradually aggravating cough, sputum, wheezing; such as pneumonia patients with cough, sputum, fever, chest tightness, fatigue, dyspnea and other symptoms; such as bronchiectasis is a symptom of long-term coughing, coughing up pus sputum and hemoptysis; such as lung cancer patients with irritating cough, which may be accompanied by coughing up sputum or sputum with blood and other symptoms.
2. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): in addition to chronic cough, it may also lead to burning sensation behind the sternum, which is more obvious during the daytime and has some relationship with eating, and the coughing symptom will be aggravated after meals.
3. Postnasal drip syndrome: usually episodic or persistent and predominantly daytime, patients usually have a history of rhinitis or sinusitis.
Long-term chronic cough may also be associated with other etiologies, such as cough variant asthma, drug-induced cough (enalapril), etc. It should not be taken lightly, and should be treated in a timely manner in the hospital, with a clear diagnosis and early treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
