The cause of hip pain varies and the department consulted differs. Hip pain caused by shingles, furuncles, boils, carbuncles and gangrene is usually seen in general surgery, pain caused by tumours can be seen in oncology, problems caused by tuberculosis can be seen in infectious diseases, and pain caused by osteoporosis and ischaemic necrosis of the femoral head can be seen in orthopaedics.
