An Asian expert at the 2010 Chinese Society of Gynecologic Oncology spoke about how, worldwide, one cervical cancer patient dies every two minutes and cervical cancer is the malignancy with the highest incidence and mortality rate in the female reproductive tract. According to worldwide statistics, there are about 450,000 new cases of cervical cancer each year. Eighty percent of these cases occur in developing countries, and 50% of them occur in Asia. Now there are 130,000 new cases in China every year, and about 20,000-30,000 people die from cervical cancer every year. These numbers are a wake-up call for us. Current research has confirmed that HPV infection is the main factor causing cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, and is the only fully identifiable carcinogenic factor in human carcinogenesis. The progression of cervical cancer is from HPV infection to cervical cancer. It is worth noting that it takes 9-25 years from HPV infection to develop cervical cancer. This is the time we provide to prevent cervical cancer. To prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer, there are 3 main ways to start: 1. Pay attention to HPV infection , without HPV infection you will not develop cervical cancer. The response is: “treating the disease is treating the virus”, i.e. treating CIN caused by HPV infection, i.e. helping the body to clean up the virus. Screening is the beginning of prevention and treatment – the best solution: TCT (thin film liquid-based cytology), HPV test, which has been confirmed by evidence-based medicine that two consecutive negative HPV tests will prevent cervical cancer for 5 to 8 years. This technique is a standardized diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions, i.e. cervical cytology/HPV —– colposcopy —– histopathology. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment of cervical precancerous lesions is a major issue in preventing cervical cancer and protecting women’s health and lives. It is recommended that married women or unmarried women who are sexually active should be screened regularly to keep away from the disease.
