Prostate cancer ultrasound reports, in the case of early stage prostate cancer, are described on ultrasound as hypoechoic nodules in the peripheral area, when the tumor can be isoechoic or non-homogeneous echogenic enhancement. The border of the prostate cancer lesion is often described as indistinct, or in larger cases, may cause localized ectopia. When the prostate cancer is progressive, it will be described as an irregular lobar enlargement of the prostate with incomplete peritoneum and disrupted echogenic continuity, and the lesion will be unevenly echogenic with increased local blood flow. When adjacent organs are involved, such as invasion of the bladder, it may be reported on ultrasound as an irregularly thickened bulge of the bladder neck.
