If a person has a large ulcer in the stomach, he or she will often have upper abdominal pain, and a gastroscopy will reveal the presence of the ulcer; if someone has a urinary tract infection, he or she may have painful, frequent, and urgent urination; if someone has a severe heart rhythm disorder, he or she may have palpitations, and an electrocardiogram will show the type of heart rhythm disorder. These diseases are called somatic diseases. There is a situation where a person has no digestive disorders but has many symptoms of digestive disorders, such as hiccups, burning sensation in the upper abdomen, abdominal pain, bloating, and chronic diarrhea. A person often has shortness of breath and a feeling of being out of breath, but cannot check for any lung problems. A person feels headache, neck pain, back pain, but nothing can be detected in the motor system. This kind of having symptoms of somatic diseases but not finding the presence of somatic diseases, after a certain period of observation, is somatization disorder. Somatization disorder has a multi-system discomfort system, such as mental: insomnia, upset; central: headache, blurred vision, unstable walking, hand shaking; cardiovascular: chest tightness, angina, palpitations; gastrointestinal: diaphragm, abdominal distension, “stomach pain”, stool rotten, more; respiratory: like breathlessness, shortness of breath, dry cough; urinary: urinary pain, urinary frequency, urinary urgency; motor disorders. Urinary: urinary pain, urinary frequency, urinary urgency; motor: neck pain, lumbago, myalgia, etc.; may have 1-2 of these symptoms or many of them. Patients with somatization disorder often go around for checkups, go to all hospitals, and have many tests; all kinds of tests find few or no problems. The symptoms are very disproportionate to what is seen on examination. Patients often do not believe that they feel uncomfortable, but they do not find any problems, so they go to more advanced hospitals for examination, even if they spend all their money. In the past, the lack of knowledge of somatization disorders, often diagnosed as neurosis, gastrointestinal neurosis; think there is nothing to treat. The development of modern medical science and technology has greatly improved the understanding of somatization disorder. It turns out that patients with somatization disorder, especially the subcortical part of the nucleus, limbic system; 5-HT (pentraxin) content is lower than normal people, so the treatment with drugs to improve the brain 5-HT, received very good results.
