What is a cyst on the liver?

Most cysts on the liver are considered hepatic cysts, including single liver cysts and multiple liver cysts. These diseases are mostly benign tumors of the liver, and after active treatment, patients will mostly improve or be cured. For the treatment of liver cysts, timely review of ultrasound, as well as review of upper abdominal CT and tumor markers are needed to exclude primary and secondary tumors of the liver, liver abscesses, liver encapsulation disease and other diseases. If the liver cyst is less than 5 cm, no special treatment is needed and no medication is recommended, and there is no specific and effective treatment drug for liver cyst itself. If the diameter of the liver cyst is more than 5 cm on review, laparoscopic hepatic cyst opening and debulking drainage is preferred, but there is a small possibility of recurrence. Partial hepatectomy is the most radical. In contrast, the more conservative ultrasound-guided percutaneous transhepatic liver cyst puncture and drainage or sclerotherapy has a higher recurrence rate.
