Whether hepatic hemangioma requires treatment depends on the size of the tumor and whether there are clinical symptoms. If the hepatic hemangioma is small and has no obvious clinical symptoms, no treatment is needed. If the tumor is large, with obvious growth trend and clinical symptoms, it needs active treatment. 1. No treatment is needed: hepatic hemangioma is a benign disease, most of them grow slowly without malignant tendency, and spontaneous rupture is rare. Small and asymptomatic hepatic hemangiomas do not need treatment. After diagnosis, ultrasonography can be done every 6~12 months for dynamic observation of its changes. 2. Treatment required: Surgical resection is the most effective way to treat hepatic cavernous hemangioma. The indications for surgery are: (1) obvious clinical symptoms; (2) rapid enlargement of the hemangioma, with the diameter larger than 5cm, especially if it is located at the edge of the liver and there is a risk of traumatic rupture; (3) the hemangioma has a tendency of malignant transformation. In case of rupture and bleeding of hepatic hemangioma, urgent treatment such as arterial embolization or emergency surgery is needed.
