Hemangioma is the most common benign skin tumor in infants and young children, which often occurs about 1 week or half a month after birth. It grows rapidly in the first 6 months of life, and the proliferation period lasts for 6~12 months, and then slows down after 1 year of age and enters into regression period, and the regression period is completed at the age of 5~10 years. The incidence rate of neonates is 1%~2%, and the incidence rate of females is higher than that of males, with the ratio of 3:1. Most of hemangiomas are located in the head and neck, and the location is superficial, and a few of them occur in the mucous membranes, muscles, bone tissues, and viscera, which not only affects the aesthetics, but also compresses the surrounding organs and affects the physiological functions. Early intervention should be carried out for those hemangiomas with rapid growth and unlikely to subside, especially for those located in the head, face and functional areas, such as vulva, perianal area, joints, etc. If the tumor grows rapidly, it will seriously affect the appearance, function and development of the children. The influence of psychological factors on the physical and mental development of children is also getting more and more attention. Children begin to appear self-consciousness at the age of 18~24 months, and the complete consciousness of self-body image is formed at the age of 3 years, so early and appropriate treatment can help the development of children’s mental health and relieve the psychological pressure of children and their families. Although most hemangiomas only affect the appearance and do not bring about serious functional disorders, if the proliferation of the lesion can be controlled at the early stage of hyperplasia, the damage to the appearance will be minimized, and the period of regression will be advanced and the process of regression will be shortened greatly. Therefore, the treatment should not only consider the thoroughness, but also the cosmetic appearance and quality of life. Adopting active, safe and effective methods of treatment is worthy of respect. There are many traditional treatment methods for hemangioma, including oral glucocorticoid, local injection of paxillin, hormone, freezing, arterial embolization, surgical resection, etc. However, due to the existence of different degrees of adverse reactions, these methods are limited to be widely adopted. In the past 20 years, with the rapid development of laser medicine, various kinds of lasers that can be used for the treatment of hemangioma have appeared, and the modern laser treatment of hemangioma has achieved the perfect unity of effectiveness and safety, which has opened a new era of dermatological therapeutics. Due to its remarkable curative effect, small adverse reaction, controlling the growth of hemangioma and promoting the regression of hemangioma, it has become the first choice for treating most of the skin hemangiomas. Cynergy, a laser therapy device developed by American Sanosu, is a clever combination of 585 nm flash-lamp pump pulsed dye laser and 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser, which is highly efficient in treating almost all types of skin vascular diseases and is significantly better than the conventional single-wavelength laser devices. It has many advantages such as high energy, wide pulse width range, deep penetration rate, low incidence of purpura, etc. The introduction of this advanced laser system makes the means of treating hemangiomas in the Department of Dermatology of our hospital further improved. Doctors are experienced in laser operation and the training system of physicians is perfect, so that the majority of patients have obtained satisfactory therapeutic effects. We are committed to promoting individualized laser treatment for the benefit of more children! For the convenience of children with hemangiomas and other vascular diseases, our hospital has set up the “Hemangioma Specialized Clinic” on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (No.24, Lane 1400, West Beijing Road).
