Can you get gout even if your uric acid is not high?

High uric acid in the body is the main culprit of gout. However, there are some people who do not have high uric acid, but also have gout symptoms, which is mainly due to a number of reasons. During an acute attack of gouty arthritis, many patients may not have a high blood uric acid level, or even a low level. At this time, a large amount of uric acid is precipitated from the blood and deposited in the joints, and the uric acid content in the blood is relatively reduced, while the uric acid content in the joints increases. If the blood uric acid level is tested at this time, it is usually lower than the usual level, but the overall uric acid level is not reduced, it just changes its “clothes” and hides elsewhere. During an acute attack of gout, the number of neutrophils increases, which can cause a severe inflammatory response in the body. At this time the body is in a state of stress, under the stimulation of the inflammatory response, our body fully seizes the self-regulatory function, so that the liver, kidneys and other organs to improve efficiency, while secreting inhibitory inflammatory factors, promote uric acid excretion, as far as possible to reduce the inflammatory response. At the same time, patients tend to drink a lot of water at this time, and the amount of urine will increase accordingly. As a result, blood uric acid can be excreted from the body, so the overall level decreases. In addition, many people also find that their blood uric acid level decreases after using uric acid-lowering drugs, but this is a temporary decrease in uric acid due to the drugs, which does not actually bring the disease under complete control. Therefore, gout can occur even when blood uric acid is not high, and its causes are more numerous and complex, requiring specific analysis.
