Is it good to soak feet in baking soda for gout

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is alkaline when dissolved in water. Hyperuricemia is the basis for the occurrence of gout. In the treatment of gout, oral sodium bicarbonate tablets can be taken appropriately to alkalize urine, promote uric acid excretion and inhibit uric acid aggregation and deposition, but there is no research evidence to show that baking soda foot soak has a definite therapeutic effect on gout. The treatment of gout should be systematic and standardized under the guidance of a professional physician. Gout treatment mainly includes general treatment, medication and other treatments. General treatment is mainly life intervention. The regulation of lifestyle and diet of gout patients is the basis of long-term treatment of gout, avoiding high purine diet in life, avoiding high purine food such as animal offal and seafood, drinking more water, increasing exercise appropriately and promoting uric acid metabolism. In addition, patients should achieve a correct understanding of the dangers of the disease, eliminate the fear of psychology, and establish confidence in the treatment of the disease. Medication is the main treatment for gout. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers, colchicine and glucocorticoids can be used in the acute attack period. The intermittent and remission periods require the use of uric acid production inhibitors or uric acid excretory drugs. For patients with gout stones or renal complications, treatment is also required depending on the extent of the condition. For large gout stones affecting appearance and joint function they can be surgically removed, or patients with severe joint deformities affecting function can be surgically corrected. In conclusion, there is no research evidence that baking soda foot soaks have a definite therapeutic effect on gout, and gout patients should adhere to lifestyle interventions and systematic and standardized medication under the guidance of a medical professional.
