Symptoms of encephalitis in babies

It is very worrying for parents to have a child with encephalitis. Because of the different sites of encephalitis and the different types of infection, the symptoms and treatment are also very different. The main symptom of encephalitis is the inflammation of the brain parenchyma. After the encephalitis, the child will have a systemic manifestation of fever, vomiting, nausea or weakness, which should be taken seriously by parents, because many parents who do not know about encephalitis may mistake it for the common cold. For diffuse encephalitis, the child will have high fever with coma and convulsions, and for encephalitis with lesions in the brainstem, the symptoms will be different, mainly numbness of the limbs, difficulty swallowing and facial nerve paralysis, and even aphasia. Pseudotumor-type encephalitis is also common, with symptoms such as paralysis, aphasia, and intracranial hypertension. Only a very small number of young children develop the manifestations of myocarditis. It can be accompanied by convulsions, confusion, and drowsiness. These are some of the symptoms that are summarized in the clinical presentation of children with encephalitis. The symptoms are different for each child, so it’s important to go to the hospital as soon as possible to find any abnormalities.
