Chronic prostatitis and psychological disorders

Chronic prostatitis is a common disease in adult men. The disease complains of many symptoms. Lower urinary tract symptoms such as frequent urination, urinary urgency, and poor urination are common, and some patients also complain of lower abdominal pain, perineal distention, or groin pain. In fact, some patients may also be accompanied by anxiety, tension or even depression. In fact, the diagnosis of tension prostatitis is often overlooked in clinical practice. The reason for this is that patients are worried about prostate malignancy or male infertility or even sexually transmitted diseases, which leads to many complex psychological changes. The urologist should take a careful history and rule out prostatitis due to psychological disorders based on the patient’s complaints, physical signs and laboratory tests.
