Grinding your teeth in bed at night may be related to mental factors, or to a bad bite. A common reason for grinding teeth in bed at night is mental tension, the work or life during the day is more stressful, or emotional tension, the tension will be released through the form of night grinding teeth. Or the tension of the chewing muscles at night is greater, unconsciously appear to grind teeth. Grinding teeth in bed at night may also be related to abnormal bite relationship, uneven teeth, or unevenly worn teeth, teeth have bite high points, and unconscious grinding occurs when you sleep and adjust the bite relationship of teeth. Grinding teeth at night in bed may also be related to lesions of the temporomandibular joint. The usual large open mouth movement can cause a disorder of the temporomandibular joint or an abnormality of the chewing muscles, and there will be unconscious grinding of teeth at night. Grinding teeth in bed can cause the enamel of the teeth to be worn away and the dentin to be exposed to show symptoms of dentin hypersensitivity, which can be protected by wearing an occlusal pad. Therefore, the cause of grinding teeth in bed at night is unknown, it may be caused by mental tension or abnormal occlusion, and should be actively treated symptomatically.
