Infantile diarrhea: a syndrome characterized by diarrhea and vomiting. Mild diarrhea is mainly an increase in the number of stools, 3-5 times/day, thin stools, sometimes with a small amount of water, yellow or yellow-green, mixed with a small amount of mucus. A small amount of vomiting or overflow, loss of appetite, normal temperature or occasional low fever. Clinical symptoms of dehydration are not obvious, the spirit is still good, no other systemic symptoms. Severe diarrhea can be aggravated by lighter forms, with more than 10 or even dozens of stools per day. The child is in poor spirits and has a low appetite, often with severe vomiting. Most of them have irregular low-grade fever, and a few have high fever of 39℃~40℃. Weight loss, if not timely rehydration, dehydration gradually aggravates, and the symptoms of water and electrolyte disorders quickly appear, and even life-threatening. How to determine dehydration : The child has poor spirit, obvious thirst, dry lips and tongue, reduced urine output, sunken fontanelle and eye sockets, and poor skin elasticity. It is important to rehydrate and prevent dehydration. Oral rehydration salts are commonly used for mild to moderate dehydration or for those who do not vomit heavily. Oral rehydration salts I can be bought in ordinary pharmacies. Put two sachets together in a 250ml container and dissolve them fully in cool boiling water. 2.How to drink? For example, for a 5Kg baby: take 2.5ml from the soaked rehydration salt and add 2.5ml of boiling water, the total amount is 5ml (exactly warm water), and give it to the baby. 10Kg baby: take 5ml from the soaked rehydration salt and add 5ml of boiling water, the total amount is 10ml. 15Kg baby: take 7.5ml from the soaked rehydration salt and add 7.5ml of boiling water, the total amount is 15ml. The total amount is 15ml, depending on the baby’s weight, but for babies over 20kg, the total amount should not exceed 20ml. 3.Is there a time limit? If your baby is thirsty, drink once in 10 minutes; if you are not too thirsty, drink once in 30 minutes; if you don’t want to drink, don’t drink. 4.When the baby is too thirsty, 10ml is not enough to drink, can I drink more? Or drink again at intervals of less than 10 minutes? Or drink some more plain water? Answer: Drink at least once in 10 minutes, (10Kg weight) up to 10ml, without drinking a little plain water. Reason: Drink too much at a time or the interval is too short, drink down the salt water not only the body does not absorb, but also increase the burden on the stomach and intestines, and from the stool out. Drink according to the 2nd standard, the body can absorb and play a role in hydration. Plain water does not contain any electrolytes, does not play the role of not water, but also aggravate the condition. 5.When can I stop drinking oral rehydration salts and drink water normally? Generally, when the baby’s condition improves, there is no thirst and the urine volume is normal, you can stop drinking oral rehydration salts. If the diarrhea has stopped, you can drink water normally after another 3-5 days. Severe diarrhea should be seen in the hospital for further examination and treatment.
