The hymenoplasty procedure takes about half an hour, and full recovery usually takes about 1 month after the procedure. The hymen is an annular mucosal fold at the external vaginal opening and can be surgically repaired after a history of trauma or sexual intercourse. Hymenoplasty is a more mature procedure that involves suturing the ruptured hymen back to its normal state, and usually takes about 1 month to heal, depending on the individual. In addition, hymenoplasty should be avoided during the menstrual period. It is recommended that the surgery be performed 3-10 days after menstruation and that sexual intercourse be prohibited for 3 days prior to the surgery. Patients are advised to keep their perineum clean and dry after surgery, avoid taking a sitz bath, choose loose and suitable cotton underwear, and change them regularly; avoid wiping the vaginal opening with paper after urination and defecation, and prohibit sanitary napkins; avoid sedentary, cycling, squatting and other activities; and prohibit sexual intercourse during the recovery period to avoid affecting the expected results or causing infection.
