Acne is commonly known as pimples, acne, and acne vulgaris. It is a common disease in dermatology. Many patients and friends have acne that seriously affects their studies, work and even love and marriage, causing a great psychological burden to the patient, and their personalities become depressed, low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence as a result. Many people mistakenly believe that it is a manifestation of adulthood and that the damage will gradually fade with age, so there is no rush to treat it, but in fact, this failure to take action can lead to permanent skin scarring and mental stress. Accompanying medication can lead to improvements in these conditions, with the appearance thus becoming more acceptable to peers, less embarrassment, and less social repression felt by the patient. Many patients with acne always ask, “How is acne caused?” The pathogenesis of acne is summarized as follows: 1. Acne is a hereditary disease, but it cannot be predicted which one will be inherited in the family. Acne does not heal naturally, but can persist into the forties, with many women first developing acne after the age of twenty-five. Some misconceptions should be clarified. Acne is not caused by dirt that is not washed away, so excessive washing is not necessary, and washing multiple times a day can cause acne lesions to worsen and pustules and papules to appear. What we need to remind our patients is that excessive squeezing can lead to permanent scarring. Patients should not have high expectations. In most cases acne can be controlled but not completely cured, with a guarantee that it will never recur. Mental stress is an important factor in making the condition worse. 2. Acne and diet. Papua New Guinean islanders and nomadic hunters in Paraguay do not have acne because their diet consists mainly of fruits, fish, game and potatoes rather than cereals and refined sugars, suggesting that high carbohydrates that increase blood sugar levels (such as bread, cookies, candy, cakes and fried potatoes) produce a range of hormonal changes that cause acne, so low sugar carbohydrates A diet that includes vegetables and fruits offers a new treatment option for acne sufferers. 3. Acne caused by cosmetics. Many cosmetics, sunscreens, and antiseptic soaps, have acne-causing effects. For acne in women older than twenty-five, one important factor may be related to excessive use and inappropriate frequent replacement of various types of cosmetics. Patients are advised to use water-based cosmetics and avoid multi-layer cleansers and cover-ups. Some patients mistakenly believe that facial massage in beauty stores has a therapeutic effect and can deep clean pores, but sometimes it can instead accelerate the development of acne. In fact, the majority of acne can be relieved or even cured with timely and early treatment. However, many patients who come to the hospital do not pay attention to the early stages of the disease, do not follow medical advice, blindly increase the amount of medication, or abuse drugs and cosmetics on their own, resulting in increased inflammation and permanent scarring. Daily precautions: 1. Do not squeeze the acne with your hands to avoid aggravating the infection or leaving a scar. 2. Prevent constipation and keep your bowels open. 3, maintain emotional stability and adequate sleep. 4, acne patients should be selective in the use of cosmetics. 5. Reduce sun exposure in summer, as excessive sunlight will make sweat glands and sebum secretion active, thus blocking pores and aggravating acne.
