The causes of unilateral ankle edema may include gout, lower limb thrombosis, inflammation and other causes. If there is no fracture, cold compress can be given within 24 hours and hot compress after 24 hours to promote the absorption of blood. 2. Gout, if the patient has elevated uric acid with one ankle edema, pressure pain, limited activity and no history of trauma, it can be diagnosed as gout, and pain medication and uric acid-lowering medication can be given. 3. Lower limb thrombosis, if the patient has no obvious cause and one ankle edema with pain, it can be diagnosed as gout.
