A new treatment for urethral acromegaly

  A mixture of 2% lidocaine injection 5mL plus 250mg 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) was prepared and set aside. Using a homemade urethral spreader (Patent No. ZL01 3 05487.2) to fully reveal the lesion, the base of the swelling and its surrounding mucosa with a No. 5 skin test syringe slowly injected with the spare 5-FU preparation, the amount injected to make the wart and its surrounding mucosa bulge, discolored pale edema is appropriate. The wart was removed by electrocautery with a high-frequency electric knife, and then the remaining 5-FU preparation was instilled into the urethra and kept for 1 h. After the operation, oral antibiotics were routinely given for 3-4 d to prevent infection. In the same way, the lesion was injected locally plus urethral instillation once a week for a total of 4 times as a course of treatment.
