Understanding staph (2) – How to visit after staph clearance?

  About 1 in 5-7 patients with staphyloma will develop malignant trophoblastic tumor. The current cure rate of malignant staphyloma is nearly 100%, so it is very important for patients to be followed up after clearance. It is very important to follow up the patients after clearance. Through the follow-up, the malignant tendency can be detected early and treated in time to prevent further development of the disease.  The first thing to do is to determine the thoroughness of the clearance, which can be clarified by ultrasound examination after the operation. Then follow the doctor’s request for regular visits for examination. Follow-up visits include (1), quantitative HCG measurement, once a week after evacuation of the gravida, until it is reduced to normal levels. Then once every 2-4 weeks for 3 months as appropriate, then once every month for at least 6 months. After that, once every 6 months or once a year. (2), pay attention to the regularity of menstruation, any abnormal vaginal bleeding, any coughing, etc., and do gynecological examination, choose certain intervals for ultrasound examination, chest X-ray or CT examination if necessary.  Most of the malignant changes after gravida occur within 1 year, but there are also latent period up to 10 years, so the follow-up should be insisted on 10-15 years.  Strict contraception must be used for one year after gravida to avoid re-pregnancy and malignant changes that are difficult to distinguish. Condoms are the preferred method of contraception, and oral contraceptive pills can also be used if the blood HCG remains normal for 3 months.
