There are two main causes of swollen feet in pregnant women. On the one hand, the swollen uterus compresses the inferior vena cava and causes edema, which is a physiological cause. On the other hand, edema can be caused by systemic diseases such as cardiogenic, hepatogenic and nephrogenic diseases. Pregnant women are often prone to swollen feet. Swollen feet are usually seen when the uterus of a pregnant woman is enlarged and presses on the inferior vena cava, resulting in obstruction of venous return and leading to swollen feet, which is the cause of swollen feet in most pregnant women. In addition, it is also seen in systemic diseases, such as patients with cardiac insufficiency, renal insufficiency and hyperemesis, and others, including patients with poor liver function, may also have swollen feet, which should be investigated along these lines.
