What are the advantages and features of thyroid nodule ablation?

The main advantages of thyroid nodule ablation: 1. The size of the needle hole is only 1 mm, and the incision does not leave a scar. 2.Short treatment time, fast recovery after surgery, short hospital stay. 3.Avoid the pain of surgery and reduce the psychological burden. 4.Usually it can be done under local anesthesia. 5.Usually no damage to the blood vessels, esophagus, trachea and nerves adjacent to the lesion, and the overall risk is significantly lower than that of traditional surgery. Important features: nodules are slowly absorbed by the body after ablation, and it has been found that thyroid nodules are easier to be absorbed after ablation than other tumors, and about 8% to 22% of patients in the literature cannot be completely absorbed. The main indications are: 1. Benign thyroid nodules with length and diameter between 7mm and 40mm. Those that are too small do not need to be treated, while those that are too large are recommended to be surgically removed. 2. High-functioning adenoma of the thyroid gland 3. Recurrent hyperthyroidism, especially postoperative recurrence, recurrence after nuclear therapy; or intolerable medical treatment, etc. 4.Parathyroidism 5.Recurrence of cancer foci after surgery, due to the high risk of re-operation. Contraindications: 1. Thyroid nodules with a length of 5 mm or less 2. Malignant thyroid nodules that can be cured by the first surgery
