Treatment of calcified thyroid nodules

Calcification of thyroid nodules is a pathological change in the thyroid gland, and can be found inside benign as well as malignant nodules. The treatment options for calcification foci mainly depend on the degree of benignity and malignancy of the nodules. Once calcification of thyroid nodules is detected, it is advisable to go to a regular professional medical consultation to further clarify the patient’s specific condition through calcification foci. If the calcification foci are clear and the images are dense, benign nodules are mostly considered, and the patient can choose to observe or take oral medication according to whether he or she has clinical symptoms. If the calcification foci are blurred, the shadows are dark, or there are grain-like calcifications or coarse calcification shadows, we should consider whether the nodules are malignant, and in this case, it is better to do biopsy at the same time to clarify the final diagnosis, and then consider whether to remove the foci through surgical treatment. In conclusion, the discovery of calcified thyroid nodules must be treated with caution to avoid aggravation of the condition due to delayed treatment, early diagnosis and early treatment can greatly improve the survival time of patients.
