A good surgery for hydrocephalus

Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a common type of hydrocephalus. Most patients usually undergo cranial CT showing ventricular enlargement, while showing normal range in cerebrospinal fluid pressure measurement. There are many clinical symptoms of this disease, including gait disturbance, cognitive impairment, and urinary incontinence, accompanied by dizziness, headache, and drowsiness. In the early stages of the disease, dizziness is usually apparent, while gait disorders are mild and often difficult to detect. As the disease progresses, it will gradually show slow walking, unstable swaying, small gait, wider foot spacing, smaller foot lift height, and starting and turning obstacles. At this stage, if therapeutic measures are not taken as soon as possible, the patient will not be able to walk and will need assistance to move slowly if the disease progresses to an advanced stage. Cognitive impairment involves cognitive, emotional-emotional, and mental-behavioral aspects, so it is a more complex symptom of normal pressure hydrocephalus. Patients are accompanied by marked indifference in expression, emotional apathy, and decreased attention and memory. Some also present with executive dysfunction and deficits in communication and interpersonal skills. When the condition worsens further, it is often misdiagnosed as dementia. It has been found that most patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus develop symptoms of urinary frequency and urgency in the early stages. As the disease progresses, complete urinary incontinence or even fecal incontinence ensues, causing much inconvenience to normal life. Therefore, when patients experience frequent and urgent urination, they must be alert and go to the hospital for detailed examination as soon as possible. Although normal pressure hydrocephalus is a reversible disease, early treatment work is still important. After continuous research and exploration, neurosurgeons have found that surgery is an ideal way to treat this disease. Patients are advised to visit some large regular hospitals in China to treat hydrocephalus for early recovery.
