Can normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus be cured by medication?

Normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus, often abbreviated as NPH, is clearly characterized by enlarged ventricles and normal lumbar puncture cerebrospinal fluid pressure, along with the clinical presentation of the triad of cognitive impairment, gait instability, and urinary incontinence. Normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus is clinically subdivided into (sNPH) and (iNPH). (sNPH) represents idiopathic and has a relatively clear etiology, usually caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage, meningitis, cerebral infarction, Paget’s disease, and chondrodysplasia, which interfere with cerebrospinal fluid circulation and absorption. The etiology of (iNPH), or idiopathic normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus, is not clear. Whether secondary or idiopathic, it can lead to many adverse consequences, so timely treatment is the key. So, can normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus be cured by medication? For mild patients, generally through conservative treatment, it can play a role in controlling the disease and also prevent hydrocephalus from becoming more serious. At the same time, we should also pay more attention to the observation of their physical changes, and if the condition appears to be aggravated, we should promptly go to the hospital to take surgical treatment. For patients who have developed triadic signs, which are serious and more severe, drug treatment is basically not very effective, it is recommended to further consider surgery. Most doctors take shunt surgery for patients with normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus in the clinic, however, some patients have shunt infection and some have blockage after surgery. In the face of the current situation, some senior experts in China, after years of research, have come up with a set of special techniques for cerebrospinal fluid treatment, which can effectively treat normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus while avoiding other complications such as infection and blockage, thus promoting a new ladder in hydrocephalus treatment in China. Patients with normal cranial pressure hydrocephalus should not take it lightly, as it can lead to unstable walking, easy falls, memory loss, mental decline, and mental abnormalities. As the symptoms worsen day by day, the symptoms increase, and in severe cases, urinary incontinence, and even coma, or death can result.
