Experience in the treatment of congenital cataracts

Congenital cataract is a common eye disease in infants and children. It is usually present at birth. If a child cannot see after birth, has very poor vision, and has white pupils, it is important to seek prompt medical attention. Some congenital cataracts are combined with other eye abnormalities and require a complete eye examination. After congenital cataract is found, it should be operated as early as possible. Surgery for congenital cataracts is difficult to operate and has many complications due to the small size of the child’s eye, so parents must choose a large hospital and find an experienced cataract surgeon to perform the surgery. After surgery, children need to wait until they are two and a half years old before replacing the artificial lens. During this period, they should wear glasses to improve their vision, and at the same time, they should carry out a series of training for amblyopia to prevent and treat amblyopia. In conclusion, congenital cataract is a long-term, systematic and comprehensive treatment that requires parental cooperation. If proper measures are taken, the affected children can obtain better vision in the future.
