Vocal cord polyp manifestations

Etiology: Mostly caused by loud talking and excessive use of voice for a long time. It can also be caused by some chronic inflammation of the larynx. Clinical manifestations: hoarseness and difficulty in vocalization. Vocal fold swelling, mostly pink, translucent and smooth, is found during specialized examination. It can develop unilaterally or bilaterally. Treatment options: Short-term smaller vocal fold polyps can be considered by speaking less, abstaining from sound and medication, etc. If this is not effective, surgery is considered. Larger polyps, or suspected non-benign masses, are recommended for surgical treatment.
