Primary osteoporosis is a systemic bone disease characterized by a decrease in bone mass and a deterioration of the microstructure of bone, resulting in increased bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture. International Osteoporosis Day is celebrated every year on October 20. Approximately half of all women over the age of 50 will experience an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetime, resulting in disability, increased mortality, and high health care costs. The incidence of fragility fractures is relatively low in men, but once reversed, their mortality rate is rather higher. One of the more common clinical features is that the pain is intense when getting up and lying down, and really painful to okay when getting up.
