Varicocele is an important cause of male infertility

Varicocele is one of the causes identified by the World Health Organization as being closely related to male infertility. It is caused by abnormalities in the anatomical structure of the spermatic vein valves, resulting in venous blood reflux, resulting in testicular damage from toxic substances and decreased spermatogenic function, which can lead to infertility or miscarriage, and can also trigger prostatitis. In recent years, with the common use of color ultrasound, the diagnosis rate of varicocele has increased significantly. Therefore, male infertility should be checked for spermatic veins, which can be clearly diagnosed through physical examination, ultrasound and reproductive hormone test. The inner diameter of the spermatic cord 2-3mm is mild varicose, 3-4mm is moderate and more than 4mm is severe. Mild and moderate varicoceles can be treated with Chinese and Western medicine, while severe varicoceles can be treated with surgery. Surgery has the traditional high ligation, embolization, and now microsurgery has better efficacy.
