Are thyroid nodules severe bilaterally or unilaterally?

Whether thyroid nodules are unilateral or bilateral is based on the size of the thyroid nodules and the specific quality of different factors for objective analysis. If the thyroid nodule is unilateral and large in size, causing compression of the trachea and esophagus, accompanied by varying degrees of breathing, swallowing difficulties, hoarseness or unilateral thyroid nodule, the ultrasound examination reveals that the nodule has unclear borders, uneven echogenicity, aspect ratio greater than 1, accompanied by pinpoint calcification and rich blood flow signal, suggesting that the nodule may become cancerous. The condition of unilateral thyroid nodules is more serious, and timely surgery is recommended. Second, if the patient’s bilateral thyroid nodules are small in size, they do not cause local swelling, pain or pressure symptoms. Through ultrasound examination, it is found that the nodules have uniform echogenicity and clear borders, and there are no obvious signs of malignancy. The condition of bilateral thyroid nodules is not serious, and the ultrasound can be reviewed regularly to observe the changes of the nodules.
