Chinese medicine used to treat advanced liver cancer

Since most liver cancers are already in the middle and late stages at the time of diagnosis and lose the opportunity of surgery and interventional treatment, coupled with the fact that liver cancer is insensitive to systemic chemotherapy and has low efficacy, a significant number of patients choose or are considering whether to use Chinese medicine for treatment. Therefore, it is very important to understand the role of TCM in the treatment of liver cancer, especially advanced liver cancer. The focus of TCM treatment for liver cancer is not on tumor shrinkage, but on improving patients’ symptoms, reducing pain and prolonging survival time. Chinese medicine treatment has certain advantages in improving the survival quality and prolonging the time of patients with advanced liver cancer. The correct treatment principle should be: early stage is based on “attacking evil”: radiotherapy and chemotherapy are adopted to control the disease; middle and late stage are suitable for “attacking and supplementing” or “supporting righteousness”: “interventional treatment” is adopted. “Interventional treatment”. The goal of “interventional therapy” is to minimize the adverse effects of the disease on the patient’s life and survival, to control or slow down the development or deterioration of the disease, and to help the patient live better and longer. The professional and standardized expression is: to strive for cancer patients to prolong the “survival time with quality of life”. Western medicine focuses on local treatment of tumors, while Chinese medicine focuses on the whole body. The combination of the two is a perfect solution. If the combination is good, the effect of tumor treatment will be improved. Western medicine is like a single-armed warfare, emphasizing on killing cancer cells; but the formula of TCM is like a joint warfare, with main attack, protection, obstacle clearing and backup, which is more reasonable.
