Understanding thyroid nodules

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-like organ that grows in front of our trachea and is richly connected to the nerves and blood vessels, as well as a tether that connects it to our throat, so that’s why it moves when we swallow. Thyroid nodules can be found in both men and women of all ages, but are more common in middle-aged women, most of whom have benign thyroid nodules, while a smaller number have thyroid cancer. Thyroid nodules can be solitary or multiple, with a higher incidence of multiple nodules than solitary nodules, and a higher incidence of thyroid cancer in solitary nodules compared to multiple nodules. Nodular goiter is more common in middle-aged women. There are few clinical symptoms, usually only anterior neck discomfort, and thyroid function tests are mostly normal. 2. It mostly occurs in patients with nodular goiter. Age is more than 40~50 years old, more common in women, may be accompanied by hyperthyroidism symptoms and physical symptoms, but the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are generally mild and often atypical, and infiltrative proptosis does not usually occur. 3. Inflammatory nodules are mostly seen in middle-aged and young women. Patients have fewer conscious symptoms, and multiple or single nodules can be found on examination, with a hard and tough texture and little pressure pain. 4.Most of them are formed by the degenerative changes of nodules or adenomas of goiter. The cysts contain blood or slightly mixed liquid, with clear borders and hard texture, and generally no pressure pain.        5.Thyroid tumors include benign thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer and metastatic cancer. In life, we must pay attention to: 1, usually do not eat spicy and stimulating food: try to take light as the main. 2.Forbid to eat foods that produce goiter: such as cabbage, cabbage, rape, walnuts, etc. 3, forbidden to drink tobacco, alcohol, strong tea, coffee. 4, avoid strain, pay attention to more rest. 5.Keep your mood relaxed and avoid mood swings.
