General anesthesia refers to the anesthesia of the central nervous system. Compared with local anesthesia, general anesthesia can eliminate the child’s fear of various medical operations in the waking state; after general anesthesia, the child’s limbs do not move, which is more conducive to the operation. And the developed countries in the West in pediatric surgery, more advocate, more widely used general anesthesia. After anesthesia, the patient: 1. temporarily loses the response to painful stimuli; 2. still retains certain nervous system reflexes, such as pupillary reflexes; 3. maintains normal vital signs, such as respiration, pulse, heartbeat, and blood pressure. As the duration of anesthesia shortens, the anesthetic effect gradually decreases and disappears at the end of surgery. Brain cells and “resume” normal work, people gradually awake, so the general anesthesia itself will not affect the child’s intelligence, and does not leave any sequelae, which is a medical conclusion. Of course, the anesthesia accident is a different story, but the chance of occurrence is quite rare.
