Glucocorticoid osteoporosis main manifestations and treatment

The symptoms of glucocorticoid osteoporosis are insidious and atypical, mainly manifesting as back pain, weakness, limb twitching or difficulty in movement; in severe cases, bone pain and non-violent fractures occur, with fracture sites mostly in the spine, hip, wrist and rib cage; patients with glucocorticoid osteoporosis have a higher risk of fracture than postmenopausal women; the main signs include shortening of height and spinal deformation. Treatment strategy: (specific treatment needs to be considered individually, please follow the doctor’s advice during consultation) 1. Basic treatment: calcium: 1200-1500 mg/d; vitamin D: 800-1000 IU/d. 2. Anti-osteoporosis treatment: bisphosphonates, sex hormone replacement therapy, calcitonin, parathyroid hormone, Chinese herbal medicine, etc. There is no safe dose of glucocorticoid therapy, and calcium and vitamin D base therapy is considered at the beginning.
