Treatment of thyroid nodules is based on the nature of the nodule, the lesion, and whether it is functional or not to determine the best treatment. If it is a benign nodule, it can be followed and observed without treating it. It is usually required to review the thyroid ultrasound in 3-6 months to observe the changes in the nodule and see if it increases in size or appears to increase in grading. If it is a malignant nodule, early surgical removal is required, and intraoperative pathology should be improved to see if further lymph node dissection is needed. If it is a functioning adenoma, its diagnosis and treatment are inconclusive and controversial, and it can be treated by surgery or by taking iodine-131. Therefore, the specific treatment depends on the nature of the nodule.
