Does it come back in adulthood after a long period of remission following a childhood onset?

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, the onset of which is influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Almost all asthma patients are characterized by chronic and recurrent attacks. Asthma attacks are associated with seasons, surroundings, diet, occupation, psychosomatic factors, exercise and the use of certain medications. Some patients who develop asthma in childhood, with or without regular treatment, have controlled or self-resolving asthma in adulthood with age and do not have further attacks for many years. However, most patients continue to have asthma attacks with wheezing and dyspnea, or coughing and chest tightness, when stimulated by exposure to allergens or excitatory factors such as respiratory tract infections. At this time, it is recommended to receive formal consultation with a respiratory specialist, or preferably an asthma specialist, for proper assessment of the patient’s asthma condition, standardized treatment and long-term management of the disease.
