Etiology and pathogenesis of acne

Acne is the most common chronic inflammatory follicular sebaceous gland disease, which occurs in adolescent males and females, and can often be naturally alleviated or cured after puberty; individual patients can be delayed until they are over 30 years old.

1, endocrine factors: androgens play a vital role, because the development and secretion of sebaceous glands are governed by androgens.

2, abnormal keratinization of follicular sebaceous gland ducts: excessive keratinization of follicular sebaceous gland ducts, small caliber of ducts, narrow obstruction, affecting the normal discharge of follicular shed epithelium and sebaceous glands, forming acne.

3, microbial infection: sebum is produced under the action of Propionibacterium acnes lipase, which produces free fatty acids and stimulates inflammation of hair follicles.

4.Immunological factors: Some patients have increased IgG levels.

5, other factors: genetic factors affect the clinical type, distribution of lesions and duration of disease; dietary factors such as fat, sugar, cocoa, etc. increase sebum secretion. Stimulating food, overexertion, mental tension, etc. can also aggravate the skin lesions.
