Is there a rush to recover from post-operative glioma wounds?

Glioma occupies the most important part of the human body – the brain, so the removal of brain tumor has to start from the “head”, which inevitably requires shaving the hair and making a cut in the head. Will the scalp be scarred? In fact, the wound will heal in about 1 week after surgery. Nowadays, the surgery is usually performed with intradermal sutures, which are self-absorbing and therefore do not need to be removed after surgery. However, there is a problem with this absorbable suture, that is, some people can absorb it well and have little suture reaction, while some patients have a more pronounced reaction to the absorption of the suture. For example, in some patients, 2 to 3 weeks or even 7 to 8 months after surgery, there are still threads running out of the wound, and when the sutures are gently squeezed, a stream of something like “pus and blood” comes out, which often makes the patient very nervous. In fact, this situation does not need to be too nervous, because each person’s constitution is different, the absorption of sutures is also different. If it is not completely absorbed, you can use iodophor to wipe it regularly to keep the wound clean and dry, but do not squeeze it, and do not go to the hospital to change the medicine or cut open the “pus” without permission, otherwise if the wound or even the skull is exposed, it is easy to cause infection. On the one hand, the infection will cause the wound to be more prolonged, on the other hand, the infection may also invade the brain, causing intracranial infection, which is serious. Therefore, the doctor will usually let the patient discharge the wound after it has healed. However, if the wound is not healed after discharge, and the wound is not healed even after wiping with iodophor, or if the pus is still flowing repeatedly, then you must be vigilant and go to the doctor as soon as possible for a second look. After the scalp heals, the hair grows up and the surgical wound can be covered by the hair. Some patients inevitably scratch their scalp because of the itchy scalp due to sweating in the heat. In this case, you should try to control yourself and not scratch, otherwise you will easily get infected if you scratch. Usually patients can control it during the day, but they will involuntarily scratch at night after falling asleep. This kind of patients can wear a pair of gloves before going to bed, or wrap their hands in a cloth bag, so that they will not easily scratch the wound. Itching and numbness of the scalp after surgery may be the result of the wound being healed, so there is no need to pay special attention to it, and some patients may even continue to feel this way for about six months. However, patients generally do not experience headaches and dizziness after surgery, and only a very small number of patients may experience some dizziness and headaches when the edema in the surgical area has not completely faded. If you experience any particular discomfort, it is better to give feedback to your doctor as early as possible.
