Glioma patients should pay attention to psychological adjustment

I often hear many people say that when they know they are suffering from glioma, they often have the feeling that the sky is falling and all thoughts are lost. Although glioma is a kind of neurological tumor that is difficult to be cured, it is not without any solution. Nowadays, after standardized individualized comprehensive treatment, the therapeutic effect of glioma has been significantly improved, and the prognosis of glioma is still relatively good compared with other systemic malignant tumors, especially the low-grade glioma. As a matter of fact, any disease to a serious extent is a threat to human health and life, such as avian flu, which is nothing but a kind of cold, but it is capable of threatening human life. Therefore, we should all realize that glioma is only one of the countless diseases that may occur in the course of human evolution, and like hypertension and diabetes mellitus, it will become more and more common with the development of human society and the improvement of living standards. I am often worried that today’s so-called development actually hides a huge crisis, because the environment in which we live is becoming more and more hostile, which includes not only the decline in the quality of food and vegetables, even the air and water on which life depends is also suffering from more and more pollution, many kinds of living things on the earth are disappearing every day, and every day there are people who lose their lives due to wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and automobile accidents, etc. If an ordinary person doesn’t take care of himself, it is very important for him to be aware of his own life. Every day, people lose their lives due to wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, car accidents and other disasters. Since everyone gets sick, a glioma is nothing to be alarmed about. There are such cases among medical personnel, that is, if a person who engages in medicine suffers from a tumor, his survival period is generally shorter than that of a person who does not know medicine, why is that? It is because they always consider the bad prognosis of this kind of tumor, and do not see the good hope, the bad psychological state reduces their resistance and accelerates the progress of the disease. Therefore, I would like to remind the majority of glioma patients to face glioma frankly, since in the body we have been at the disadvantage, in the psychological to prevail, if the body has not yet failed, but the spirit has collapsed, then for the treatment of the disease is very unfavorable. None of us knows exactly how we came into this world or when we should leave. In the same way we don’t know how we came to have glioma, and it is impossible to conclude when we will be able to cure it. Like some other scholars, I used to devote myself to searching for the causes of gliomas and to searching for the mutated genes of gliomas through gene chip technology, with a view to finding the main genes leading to the occurrence of gliomas. However, with the deepening of the research, it was as if I had walked into a primitive forest, not being able to see the sky, not being able to distinguish between the east and the west and the north and the south, and it was difficult to find out the pattern and clues because of the great differences in the number and kinds of mutations in each specimen of gliomas. The number and variety of mutations in each glioma specimen varied greatly, making it difficult to find out the pattern and clues. Later on, I had a feeling of enlightenment in the midst of bewilderment. According to the current state of human medical development, it is futile to search for the cause of gliomas, and I should devote myself to the treatment of gliomas, so that every glioma patient I have seen can get the best treatment plan in the world, and do my sacred duty as a doctor, but I can’t tell what the effect of the treatment is and what the prognosis is. Therefore, I would like to remind glioma patients and their families to do their best to get treatment, to live and work happily, as to when the tumor will come back that is beyond our control. In fact, not only glioma patients, but also patients with other diseases also have psychological problems such as tension, anxiety and fear, which are normal psychological reactions, but we should learn to solve these problems. Here I would like to make some suggestions for your reference: one should set up a strong belief to overcome the disease, two should have a mind to face all the diseases frankly, three should keep a healthy and happy mood, four should complete the doctor’s orders seriously, five should insist on normal life and work, six should fulfill the family responsibility that he/she is responsible for, seven should treat his/her relatives and friends kindly, and eight should change his/her bad life habits. With a healthy mind, the right treatment, and the selfless help of your relatives and friends, we believe that a miracle will happen to you!
