The mechanism of action of adapalene gel is thought to reduce microcomedema formation by normalizing the differentiation of hair follicle epithelial cells. Adapalene gel is superior to retinoic acid in standard anti-inflammatory assays in vivo and in vitro. It inhibits the chemotaxis of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It also inhibits the metabolism of polymorphonuclear leukocytes by inhibiting the conversion of arachidonic acid to mediators of inflammation via lipoxidation. This suggests that adapalene gel should be used in cellular response-mediated inflammatory reactions. Human clinical trial studies have shown that adapalene gel can alleviate the inflammatory white response (e.g., pustules) of acne.
Side effects of adapalene gel:The most common adverse reactions, mainly during the first 2-4 weeks of treatment, are erythema, dryness, scaling, pruritus, burning or stinging, mostly mild to moderate in degree. Less frequent adverse reactions include sunburn, skin irritation, uncomfortable burning and stinging of the skin. Rarely occurring adverse reactions include acne erythema, dermatitis and contact dermatitis, ocular puffiness, conjunctivitis, erythema, pruritus, skin discoloration, erythema and eczema.
If adverse reactions are severe, the number of doses should be reduced or discontinued. In case of overdose, significant redness, peeling or discomfort may be produced. Therefore, do not overdose the medication when using adapalene gel, and if discomfort occurs, you should discontinue the medication for a period of time. Note also: Adapalene Gel is not suitable for use in pregnant women and should be contraindicated in those who are allergic to the ingredients of this product. Also note: Do not use adapalene gel during pregnancy and do not apply it to the breasts if it is necessary to use adapalene gel in breastfeeding women. Adapalene Gel should not be applied to the eyes, mouth, nasal mucosa and other mucosal tissues. It should not be used on broken skin (cuts, abrasions) or in very severe (vesicular wounds) acne patients. Excessive sun exposure and ultraviolet radiation should be avoided when using Adapalene Gel.
