Do all patients with thyroid nodules undergo fine needle aspiration cytology?

Although the best way to determine whether a thyroid nodule is benign or malignant is currently ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNA) of the thyroid nodule. However, not all patients with thyroid nodules can undergo FNA. The FNA method is recommended for those who meet the following criteria: 1. The diameter of the nodule is ≥1 cm. (2) Family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine tumors type II; (3) Age (4) Male; (5) Fast growing nodules; (6) Hard nodules with indistinct margins; (7) Immobile nodules; (8) Enlarged cervical lymph nodes; (9) Hoarseness, cough, dysphagia, inspiration (10) Ultrasound indicates that the mass is poorly defined, irregular in shape, and somewhat strongly echogenic.
