Which items should be checked for nephritis hospitalization

Patients with glomerulonephritis have to undergo several tests after hospitalization. First of all, routine urine tests should be done to see the status of protein in urine routine, 24h urine protein quantification, urine red blood cell morphology analysis, and biochemical tests, including liver function, kidney function, blood glucose, lipids, electrolytes, and for older patients, cardiac enzyme measurement. In addition, the determination of light chain protein should be done. For young female patients, the determination of anti-nuclear antibody, anti-double-stranded DNA antibody, complement and immunoglobulin should be done. If anemia, thrombocytopenia and leukocytopenia are present in the routine blood test, reticulocyte count, hemolysis test and anemia test should be done. Secondly, routine stool examination should be done. On the basis of the laboratory tests, ultrasound of the urinary tract, ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder and spleen, electrocardiogram and ultrasound of the heart should be done, and ultrasound of thyroid function and thyroid gland may be done in individual patients.
